I / Vol 4 - January 2005 2005 - A New Year

On behalf of all the crew of Sourcing Bali - we begin this issue of our Newsletter by paying tribute to all of our fellow countrymen affected by the terrible disaster in Sumatra.

The tragic events of the Asian Tsunami have left a strange and surreal mood among us.  We have been proud to support the incredible efforts of the Bali Hotels Association - Debe Campbell and her team at THE WORKS toiled endlessly for days after the breaking news - coordinating and communicating to the local hotel community - resulting in 5 containers of goods being sent to Sumatra to assist relief efforts.  The Sourcing Bali crew assisted in the collection, packing, stacking and loading of over 160cbm of generously donated goods from the hotels. 

We take this opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous work carried out by Debe, her crew and all of those involved.

We start 2005 with a fresh approach; a renewed focus on family, friends and loved ones.  To all of our friends all over the world we wish you a Safe and Happy New Year.

Fiji Sales Trip

 BULA to all of our friends in Fiji !

Three of the crew flew to Fiji in December to meet with old friends and make new ones.  A cocktail reception at Piranah's restaurant was attended by over 30 guests

A highlight of the visit was to see the results of our efforts over the past two years. Tokoriki Resort, Royal Davui Island Resort, Pure Fiji factory and training SPA, Myola Plantation. 

We also spent time on Castaway Island Resort - a recent addition to the Sourcing Bali portfolio.   Production is already underway for the refurbishment of this 66 room resort.

More projects are in the wings for 2005 and we look forward to sharing news of these later in the year!

Bali Bird Park - remodeling

We were very proud to be called upon by the Bali Bird Park to assist in the re-modeling, and re-design of their gift shop. 

Sourcing Bali (spearheaded by Tali Phillips) designed and implemented over 250 exclusive products, all bearing the brand and making use of the bright colours of the Park's residents.

Working in conjunction with the Bali Bird Park crew, Sourcing Bali sources, purchases, packs, labels and manages all inventory for the gift shop and continues to develop new and exciting products.

Phase 1 of the refurbishment was launched on December 22.

Website Updates

Pay a visit to the website to see the latest products that have been sourced.  Use the 'new products' tab at the top of the page to receive the latest of new entries. 

These new entries are held for one month as NEW product before being absorbed into the Sourcing Bali featured range.

Moisture content metre

Monitoring the moisture content of wood, and ensuring that these fall within the recommended range - can help to reduce the risk of cracking when exported to cooler, drier climates.

Sourcing Bali has invested in the latest technology of Moisture content metres By Wagner (USA).  The MMI 1100 is the top of the range product - used around the world by quality controllers to accurately measure the moisture content of wood.

Sourcing Bali can now better advise our customers on the potential risks of importing wooden furniture from Indonesia.

Banners

Sourcing Bali can now also supply high quality free-standing banners which are perfect displays for conferences and trade shows. Posters and banners are produced with high quality digital processing on durable, high-grade Kodak Satin photo paper.

New Faces

We're growing !

Say hi to the latest additions to the Sourcing Bali family...

Wayan (another one !) has joined us as a security guard for the main office and villas.

Ari has filled a new opening as Freight Services manager. His role is to keep up to date with the most competitive shipping rates and to arrange shipments for our clients.

Sylvia Swarzeneger is our new administration assistant who helps out in the accounting department and will be in charge of inventory control at the Alila Living gift shops.

Pejo has joined our crew at the warehouse to assist with quality control and packing of goods.

Promotions

Pipin joined us in 2004 and quickly developed her skills and increased her involvement with client's orders. So, starting this month Pipin has now been promoted to Account Manager - congratulations Pipin!

Sample showroom

A newly created samples showroom installed at Sourcing Bali will help save time and resources for future buying trips.  The new area on the first floor is dedicated to showcasing samples of handicrafts, home wares, finishes, tiles, linens, ceramics and much more.

Wild Ginger Collection

We have recently started working with this fantastic supplier. This collection consists of chic resort wear - sarongs and coordinating tops crafted from beautiful, sheer, ultra soft cotton imported from India.

All items are individually painted or beaded by hand. The sarongs all have hand rolled and stitched hems.

Various pieces from Wild Ginger are currently stocked at Alila Living boutique in Manggis.

Newly arrived and now supplied from Bali... This product is made from re-inforced knitted polyethelene fabric which won't rot, mildew, shrink, fray or tear and is guaranteed by the, manufacturer for 10 years.
