Welcome !

We are delighted to bring you the latest news and reports from Sourcing Bali and our suppliers.

In this edition, we bring you our regular updates of new website loadings, as well as news of new suppliers, new materials and news of the crew.

It's been a very busy few months with loads of client visits throughout June and July. It's great to see Bali so busy. The hotels are full, and the streets are packed with tourists.. August is Bali's peak season for tourism. For us, it's business as usual, as we all work hard to complete your orders ahead of the Ramadan holidays.

I take this opportunity to wish all of our muslim crew and friends 'Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri'.

New Products - recently uploaded

There have been many, many new products loaded to the site since our last email. Ray has been busy with cropping of images and uploading. Recently uploaded is a new and interesting range of lamps - reasonably priced / creative designs.

petrified wood

Quoted as being many millions of years old, these petrified tree stumps from Kalimantan are a hugely popular item for many of our clients.

These tree trunks vary in colour - ranging from Black, tan, brown, white, and grey - and are generally available in sizes ranging from 30cm diameter to 60cm diameter. Most are 40-50cm high.

These petrified wood stumps have similar qualities to marble - are can be sold in all poilished or partially polished styles. These are priced per KG - and prices vary from US$1.90 - $2.20 per KG - depending on the variety / rarity. (weights vary from 40-70 kg - depending on the sizes)

These are very popular as stools, side tables, lamp tables, decorative peices.

New Projects

We have been extremely busy (and proud) to be working on some wonderful new orders from far away places.

Fiji has long been a favourite of the Sourcing Bali crew, and we're delighted to have the support of so many customers from Fiji - VINAKA !!

We're also working on some orders for Antigua, Guadaloupe, Hawaii, Australia, France, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Germany, Maldives, Seychelles, India, Anguilla, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore - It's a great feeling to know that Bali made products are exported to all corners of the globe.

Ramadan / Idul Fitri

The muslim fasting month of Ramadan starts on August 16th - until September 11th. - during this time, many of our suppliers will start to slow production and close operations for (usually) 2 weeks. In most cases, suppliers will be closed from 6th to 20th September. Our Muslim staff will be on leave over these dates.

This is a very special time for Muslims, as they celebrate with their families and friends. In Indonesia, this means a mass exodus from the cities as people return home to their vilages throughout the achipelago.

The end of the fasting month is called Idul Fitri / Eid - these are public holidays in Indonesia and our offices will be closed on 10th & 11th September.

Once again, we wish all of our muslim friends a safe and Happy Ramadan, Idul Fitri.

Currency fluctations

The Indonesian Rupiah has been strengthening over recent weeks with the US$ to Rp exchange rate moving from Rp9050 to as low as Rp8850.

Personal Shopping Services

We are proud to say that our Personal Shopping Services continue to grow from Strength to Strength. We assisted more than 20 visitors in July and we have bookings as far in advance as December 2010.

Sourcing Bali was the first and is still the best service provider for professional Shopping Services. Our Account Managers have over 30 years accumulated experience with personal shopping and they know exaclty where the best buys,and best quality it to be had.

Our rates continue to be the same as they have ALWAYS been - our half day services are Rp175.000 per person, whilst a full day service is Rp250.000.

We charge 15% on all invoices for goods that are ordered through Sourcing Bali. This fee is for order placement, monitoring production, reporting on progress, and most importantly, quality controlling.

Any goods purchased on the day, and paid in full to suppliers, and need no further assistance from Sourcing Bali are NOT subject to any fee. These items are simply collected the next day and brought to our warehouse for packing / shipping. Any items purchased outside of Sourcing Bali are also not subject to any fee, if no further assistance is needed.

Cocoon - Opening

We were very proud to be appointed as designers and suppliers of interior and exterior furnishings for the new and highly popular Cocoon Beach Club.

I've been sharing news of this venue for some months now, including renderings of the pool and lobby areas. We're pleased to report that Cocoon is now OPEN and is receiving rave reviews. The food is fantastic and the outdoor space is a HIT with travelers.

Next visit to Bali - be sure to include a visit to Cocoon. Open breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Facebook page - Sourcing Bali

We've been updating our facebook pages quite regularly - including mobile uploads from factory visits, news of trade shows, progress of projects (like Cocoon) - etc.

If you havent yet logged on to our Facebook page - please do so soon. Whilst we are avid emailers (via this newsletter) the Facebook page allows easier uploading and informal updates as and when they happen.
