Latest product uploads

Ray has been busy as ever, carefully cropping and uploading a range of new products to the Sourcing Bali website, as well as the Hospitality Essentials Website.  Each month, the most recent products can be found on these sites by simply clicking NEW PRODUCTS - we try to keep ahead of the competiton and feature only new and interesting designs.  It's a good idea to visit often - at least as often as I write this newsletter, so that you stay informed of what's new.

April - Super Busy

We were very pleased to see a burst of activity in April with lots of customer / buyer visits.  At many times, all 4 of our cars were out with clients and our Account Managers were kept busy with visits to suppliers, preparing buying lists, following up on samples, drawings and quotes.   May continues to look just as busy, and we thank you for your tremendous support.

If you are unable to make it to Bali for a buying trip, we can still assist with online orders.  Our crew has many years of experience handling email requests and our same day / 24 hour response to requests means that you are never left waiting.  If we're waiting for suppliers to get back to us, then we'll always let you know and keep following up.

Buying trips are the most efficient means of ordering, and we make sure that your time is well spent. Whether for personal or commercial needs, our Account Managers ensure that you visit quality suppliers, suitable for your needs.  Making sure that everything on your list is sourced.

For details of our buying trips - please email or visit our website www.sourcing-bali.com/buying-trips

new regulations for shipments to Italy

Recent changes to regulations for shipping to Italy state that SILICA GEL is not permitted to be used for any shipments.  According to the new regulations , Italian Custom doesn't accept any declaration or certificate made in Indonesia about dimethilfumerate..

If they found silica in the container they will run a test to ceck the dimethilfumerate. The cost for the laboratorium test is about 500 euro.

If you don't put any silica in the container, just write a letter where you declare that you don't use any disessicant.

ITALIAN CUSTOM STRONGLY SUGGEST TO DON'T USE SILICA FOR PACKING. IF YOU NEED DISESSICANT FOR GARMENT PLEASE USE MICROPAK DISESSICANT.

As always, RIM CARGO ensures full compliance with International regulations for packing and shipping.  There are many independent regualtions effecting some countries.  It's important that you are kept informed of these rules / these changes and use ONLY professional freight companies that take the time to understand these ever-changing details.

Trade Shows and Exhibitions

We have attended a number of tradeshows thoughout the region already in 2010 - these include Bali, Singapore and next week Melbourne.

The Hotel, Hospitality and Design Show next week is the first of its kind for Australia and we're excited to be exhibiting the lastest Hospitality Essentials products and to debut BESPOKE. it's sure to be cold, but we'll be brave. :-)

We're also planning to be in Maldives in July and who knows where else..  we promise to keep you updated and hope to see you some where soon.

Facebook page - Sourcing Bali

We invite you to join us on Face Book. We've recently added our page and will be using it for brief updates of products that we're working on.  Unlike this newsletter, the Face Book page will be used for 'snap shots' of work, instant pics from factory visits, snippets of news etc.  Our newsletter will be reserved for product and supplier news, exporting regulations, long term projects, staff news etc.   Face book is quick and easy to upload, we can do it from our phones whilst out on the road.

We look forward to welcoming you to Face book and sharing updates with you.  As always, if you have any suggestions on how we can improve our service to you, we're very happy to hear it.

Past Editions

This is the 9th year of writing the Sourcing Bali news.  It's hard to beleive how quickly time has passed since we started these bi-monthly communications.     We hope that you enjoy them.

We receive a surprisingly large number of responses from these mails, some request for more information on a product, some asking us to search for something they have had trouble with, and some just to say hi.  We welcome all of the comments and value your feedback.

Our website features an archive function so you can read ALL past issues of this newsletter - it's interesting to see how far we've come and how many new crew are now old crew.. we just keep getting bigger and hopefully, better.. :-)

We thank you for your wonderful support over the years. It has been a pleasure to assist you.  We figure we have assisted THOUSANDS of visitors to Bali with their personal shopping orders, and many hundreds of corporate clients.  Many of whom are still regular customers.

As we celebrate our 9th anniversary at Sourcing Bali - one behalf of all the crew, I say a big THANKYOU !!

exchange rates

We have seen a lot of volatility in the Rupiah exchange rates recently, particularly with the US$.  Currently the Rupiah is trading at 9100, however in recent days it's been as low as 8860 and as high as 9200.

If you have any questions about the exchange rates, please feel free to email sheny@sourcing-bali.com and she will update you on currency exchanges.  Our website also features a currency converter .. it's found on the bottom left corner after you register. www.sourcing-bali.com

The Indonesian Rupiah is not commonly tradable, thus for overseas transfers, you need to make transactions in either foreight currency.  In most cases US$, Euro or AUD$ is preferred.

Staff Party - 9 years

Sourcing Bali is 9 years young.. and to celebrate our special occassion, the entire crew spent a day on the Ayung River for some fun team building - white water rafting.

For most, it was their first time - so it was a little aprehensive, but the fear soon gave way to smiles and a fun day was had by all.

We say a special thanks to Bali Adventure Tours who took great care of our 'little' group of 86. The entire day went by without a hitch and we ended the day with a delicious lunch at Yani's warung in Sayan.

The crew are all asking when we can do it again...!!!
